About this TV Documentary
Narrated in both Chinese and English, and subtitled in 7 languages, the 12-episode TV documentary has touched upon the many aspects of the Forbidden City, from its architectures, functions, stored cultural relics and artistic treasures as well as its transformation from a royal palace to a public museum. It’s trying to present a true picture of historical events and royal court life as well as the hidden world of vivid personalities that are little known to the outside world.
The 12 episodes program has been structured into three parts. The first two focus on the building of the Forbidden City and the characteristics of its architecture. The following three episodes are about the customs and ceremonies of the royal family and the functions of the buildings in the Palace. Next four are on the art treasures, and covering porcelain, jade work, paintings and western tributes in the Forbidden City. The last three episodes trace the history of the development of the Museum.
This program is regarded to date as one of the most complete introductions to the 3-dynasty royal Palace. A must have for people who are interested in Chinese culture and history. This boxset encloses 7 DVDs, 1 CD &1 Booklet
